The Centre for Community Journalism & the Independent Community News Network ran its 2021 conference, Community Journalism | Building a Sustainable Future on Sept 14th/15th.
As journalism emerges from its most challenging period yet, we have an opportunity to build a sustainable, vibrant, inclusive future that has communities at its heart.
This online conference brought together community journalists, academics, policymakers, innovators, and technologists to explore a sustainable future of independent community news, celebrate its recent successes, hear from its most ardent practitioners, and share new ideas, skills, and tools to help build the next generation of community and hyperlocal news.
We presented recent findings from academic research, examples of emerging business models and innovations, and discussed what a sustainable future for community journalism looks like with a panel of special guests.
Day One and Day Two of the conference can be watched in their entirety below.
A huge thank you to all the speakers who gave their time, and to all who attended.
We hope you enjoy it.
